DELANEY BRETO, HEAD COACH
High School: Long Reach High School (2009-2012)
College: Pfeiffer University: played lacrosse in college (2012-2015)
How many years have I been playing: Over 10 years
Year I joined Bitmore: 2017, started with the 22's and transferred over to the 21's
Years I have been coaching: Going on year 2! At Bitmore and Garrison Forest School where I coach Field Hockey, Basketball & Lacrosse.
Where I live: I grew up in Elkridge, and my husband, Josh, and I are now living in Catonsville and absolutely LOVE it!
Why I love lacrosse & coaching: I'm passionate about lacrosse, and sports in general because they instill important values that you need in order to be successful in life. A hard work ethic, team work, persistence, competitiveness, communication and so much more. I get extremely excited about coaching because I have had the privilege to have some amazing coaches growing up who got to shape me into the athlete and person that I am today. And if I get to do that for even one girl, then it's a win for me! I also make it a goal to help build confidence in my players so that I can watch them grow out of their shell to reach their fullest potential.
Philosophy & coaching approach: My philosophy is work hard and be humble. I work hard to create an environment that helps the girls feel 100% comfortable taking risks & making mistakes. Once they do that, it presents them an opportunity to grow not only as a lacrosse player on the field but also off the field. I believe that when we stay in our comfort zone we are prohibiting ourselves to grow. So that is why every practice & game I like to push the girls to create a NEW comfort zone for themselves by working hard and pushing themselves to new limits
AMY BURDETTE, ASSISTANT COACH
Coach Amy played high school lacrosse at Mount de Sales Academy in Catonsville, MD, and received a scholarship to play D1 lacrosse at UMBC, where she also ran cross country. After transferring to Eckerd College (FL), she played DII softball (1 year), club soccer (3.5 yrs), and every intramural sport she could.
Lax awards / honors: Was voted "most likely to give up lacrosse and play Ultimate Frisbee and sub-amateur beach volleyball in Florida!"
Amy joined the Bitmore 2021 team as an assistant coach in the 2016-17 season. She volunteered for Catonsville Rec Lacrosse program for eight years as a coach (in-house and MYLA A & B levels), the age-group coordinator, MYLA referee liaison, and at-large board member. Also has also coached Catonsville rec/travel soccer and rec basketball.
Amy lives in Catonsville, where "Life is Great in 21228." Her daughter Cassidy, started playing for Bitmore Girls Lacrosse in its first year (2013-14, 5th grade) and is now playing in her 5th season.
From Amy: I picked up the sport of lacrosse in my high school years and wish I had played it earlier! I loved the pace and excitement of it then, and love it to this day. As a coach, it is incredibly gratifying to watch the incremental progress made by our girls with each and every lacrosse practice or game. It's awesome to acknowledge that progress and then challenge them to continually improve.
I whole-heartedly believe in the benefits of playing multiple sports - it's good for the body and mind! I also firmly believe in the philosophy we instill at Bitmore Girls Lacrosse, which is to place the development of lacrosse fundamentals, lacrosse concepts, teamwork and sportmanship, and most importantly, strong young women above any win/loss record or individual achievement. I want our girls to succeed on the field, in the classroom, and in life!
